Shooting "Anyone You Want"

The film was shot in 26 and a half ten hour days in the leafy Glebe area of Sydney. A plum film location with blue bays, fig trees and narrow streets of tumbledown Victorian houses.

We had a tiny crew of ten who worked like crazy people to bring this story to life. Brycen Horne was the Director of Photography and achieved an amazing look without cranes, jib arms or steadicams. We used a high-end Sony F900R HDCAM camera with Zeiss film lenses.

“Anyone You Want” is about a homeless girl in Sydney, who lures a young businessman into her fantasy world of changing names, personalities and costumes.

When I wrote it I was interested in looking at ideas of identity and fantasy. I think we all spend time in alternative realities whether imaginary or played-out and this film is a romantic and often comic take on living out those dreams.

The story came to me quite quickly and went through several drafts - after notes from readers and also during rehearsal with the actors.

"Anyone You Want"...the story so far.

A few months ago I shot my first feature film "Anyone You Want" in the sunny bay areas of Sydney, Australia. It's an indie romance - often intense and often funny - and stars fantastic rising Australian stars Socratis Otto (Wolverine - Origins) Tabrett Bethell (Legend of the Seeker – Disney/ABC) and veteran comic actor Max Cullen (Australia, Wolverine - Origins).
